Hi. My name is Kelly and I am an alcoholic.... no, I'm not, but I felt like I needed some sort of excuse for taking TEN MONTHS to complete uh, half of this fic. You see. It's 33,000 words. And I had to re-record it 4 times. Which is to say, I read it all the way through the first time forgetting that I didn't set the setting right. Another time half of the time the stupid fan was blaring in the background. The third time I... ha ha, so funny, yes, I laughed too, LOST it. Ha. Still funny. (Not.)

The fourth time may not be pristine but dag nabbit, at that point it'd been 6 months. Now I've spent four months editing, which is to say editing 30 minutes worth of output over the course of 2 hours of real time, hitting save, and going to bed with a headache and rage-on for my own voice. Then, three weeks later, doing it again. At this point I think I am married to this fic.

In order to give myself inspiration, I am putting out the first half before the second half is done editing. I am hoping that with a few comments, I might speed through this second half edit to not let you guys down and spend 3 hours a day over the next week or so and get it over with.


TO BE CLEAR:

None of this detracts from the fact that I love love love this fic, and still do, despite that I think I have it memorized verbatim at this point. LOL. It's wonderful and I love how sholio handles all of the characters, especially Keller. Plus, I really love the plot.

Honestly, if no one comments? I probably won't finish. I'm not doing this to be a hostage taker, I'm just saying, if the interest isn't out there I don't think I'll finish. However, even if it's one person, I'll edit an hours worth a day if I have to and send it to you piece-meal if that's what it takes.

In other news, anyone watching Breaking In with Rosey-face and Christian Slater and Brett Harrison? Rosenbaum is so very crazy-stupid-hilarious-awesome in it, and Slater is just... clearly in his element. Harrison's falling a bit short of the "SQUEEEE" factor that he had for me on Reaper, but he's also being outshined by Rosenbaum and Slater, so give it time. He's got enough street cred with me from Reaper to hold until he finds his place there. It's a weird, odd little show, but luckily it's on right after American Idol so maybe it can get enough viewers long enough to find it's feet.... that usually happens like 4 or 5 episodes in, I've found. '

At any rate, it's fantastic to see Slater get to be his crazay self and to see Rosenbaum be fantastically wild and crazy and charming. "Fist bump! Re-Bump! Bumpfecta!!!" Heh. I want to use that. (For everyone wondering, yes, Rosey was supposed to only be on the first 3 eps. However, he got there and the People In Charge loved him so much they made him a regular.)

I recorded the wonderfully hilarious See John Run and Hello Rodney by rhymer23. It was exceedingly fun because it was written in the style of a teacher/librarian telling a story to 3 year olds, but the story isn't... um.... exactly appropriate for 3 year olds? LOL. They're both PG-13, and I had a lot of fun putting on my "Aunt to 3 kids under the Age of 10 Reading A Story Voice" to record them. Check them out, they're here

Next Up: Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, a McKay/Keller and John fic that I adore adore adore by sholio. It's quite long, and it taking a very long time to record and will take longer to edit, so don't expect it for a bit longer. I may have to take another breather and record some shorter fics in the meantime too again, because I am spastic and scatterbrained. LOL.

ETA: because there's no reason to make this a seperate post over here: Okay, since I first started podficcing I've learned that using my Mac via Garage Band yeilds a muuuuch greater quality of fic than the system I was previously using. I will eventually probably replace all of my previously recorded podfic with new versions, but in the meantime I've rerecorded most of my old SGA fics. Please, I beg of you, if you have an old podfic of mine replace it? It's embarrassing, the horribleness of the quality. LOL. I think they've been changed out in the official archive, but these are hosted on my website as well.

This is the best I can do for a Christmas present to the f'list. I can't write because of my tendonitis, but I can talk, so... I've read several stories from several fandoms.
